This year, for the second time in my life, I spent the New Year's Eve in another country: the first time was in the heat of Rio de Janeiro, the second in the cold of Dubrovnik.
And it's about this destination - and 3 more - that I'm going to talk in this post and in the few to come.

But first, information about the stay, transportation and food.
ACCOMMODATION
First of all, I want to talk about the Hotel that I stayed at. Hotel Neptun - 4 *. In my case, I stayed here because the flight + hotel package was at a good price (considering that usually hotels charge a higher price than usual during the New Year's Eve). As Dubrovnik is not (yet) such a popular destination during Winter time, prices turned out to be cheap!
I loved staying at this hotel. It had a sea view*, the rooms were well decorated and very comfortable, the breakfast was complete and pleasant (and may be even better during Spring and Summer, with the opening of the sea view terrace). The staff was very approachable and professional. It has an indoor and outdoor pool, as well as a spa and gym. It was rebuilt recently, so everything was in a good condition. The only thing that might not be so good, is the fact that it is a 6km ride from the hotel to the old town, but this turned out not to be problem: there are buses running constantly from the Hotel door directly to the center. And even better than that, those bus rides were free from 5:00 p.m.!

TRANSPORTATION (within the city and/or to other countries)
As I said before, the bus network is good, and also free from 5pm. But they have Uber there! Please note that Uber is not exactly in good terms with the taxi drivers of Dubrovnik, so you should avoid picking up an Uber near the busiest taxi areas.
Regarding visiting other neighbor countries, there is the option of tourist buses, but if you have the opportunity, I advise you to rent a car. If you opt for the latter option, make sure that the vehicle includes GPS and the so-called "Green Card" in order to be able to cross borders. Make also sure that you bring your documents with you.
WHERE DID WE RENT THE CAR?
Actually it was all a mere coincidence, we ended up saying to our Uber driver, at the end of our first day, that we were going to look for a company to rent a car for the next day, and he said he would get us one. He left us a card with his contact, and after some research that afternoon, we decided to actually go and rent the car to Mr. Pero. Everything went beautifully with the car, but I think you can get better prices if you previously rent it on the Ryanair website. For future comparison, we rented a Seat Ibiza for 48 hours and it was 100 € (with an insurance that covered all damages). Mr. Pero left the car at the Hotel for us, and on the last day he picked it up at the same place.

DUBROVNIK, CROATIA
$ - Barba - The prices are below average, the decor is simple and it has a cool atmosphere. It is located in one of the streets connected to Stradum. Adress: Boškovićeva ul. 5, 20000, Dubrovnik.
$ - Pizzeria Scala - modest restaurant that offers pizzas and mexican food. Very good pizzas, and nice mexican food. Adress: Mata Vodopica 3, 20000 Dubrovnik.
$ - Kiosks in the middle of the Stradum - You can always try the Cevapcici (typical in that region) in the middle of Dubrovnik's main street!
$$ / $$$ - Taj Mahal - This restaurant's name may confuse you ... it is not Indian, but rather "Bosnian Cuisine". Despite the price, I feel it was worth it. Everything in the meal was perfect! Impeccable service and decor too. If you have the opportunity (€), try it. I really recommend it!!!
P.S. - If you ask for Cevapci, the supposedly smaller size is actually huge! Adress: there are two, we went to the one near the Hotel Lero - Iva Vojnovića 14, Dubrovnik. The other is at the Old Town, but I do not know if it is that good - Nikole Gučetića 2, Dubrovnik.
$$$ - Pantarul - We stopped there by chance, but then we realized that it is a restaurant that all Croatians advise tourists to go! Gourmet cuisine, but actually none of us felt convinced by it! For me, bad quality/price ratio. However, with this restaurant being so well known, I could not help but comment on my experience. Adress: Kralja Tomislava 1, 20000 Dubrovnik.
$$$ - Otto Taverna - Unfortunately it was closed at the time, but as far as I know, it is one of the best restaurants in Dubrovnik. Adress: Ul. Nikole Tesle 8, 20000, Dubrovnik
KOTOR, MONTENEGRO
$ / $$ - Verige65 - Even if it's just for a coffee, the view at this restaurant already deserves a mandatory stop! Adress: 19 E65, Kostanjica, Montenegro
GAME OF THRONES FAN?
If, like me, you are a fan of the most viewed series of all time, you will like to look at a certain place and immediately have that memory of "Cersei scene took place here", and "Sansa scene happened there" ... A website that helped me to identify which scenes of the series happened in the place I was at, was www.kingslandingdubrovnik.com. I recommend it!

Este ano, pela segunda vez na minha vida, passei a passagem de ano fora do meu país: a primeira vez foi no calor do Rio de Janeiro, a segunda, no frio de Dubrovnik.
E é deste destino - e mais 3 - que vos vou falar neste post e nos próximos que virão.

Por agora, informações sobre a estadia, deslocação e alimentação.
ESTADIA
Primeiro que tudo, quero falar do Hotel onde fiquei. Hotel Neptun – 4*. Neste caso fiquei aqui instalada porque o pacote voo+hotel ficava bastante em conta (considerando que normalmente os hóteis cobram um preço mais alto que o habitual durante a passagem de ano). Como Dubrovnik ainda não é um destino tão popular durante o Inverno, os preços acabaram por ser chamativos!
Adorei ficar aqui. Tinha vista mar*, os quartos estavam bem decorados e eram confortáveis, o pequeno-almoço era completo e agradável (e pode ser mais ainda durante a Primavera e o Verão, pois nessa altura acrescem o terraço junto ao mar como área de refeições). O staff era bastante acessível e profissional. Possui piscina interior e exterior, e ainda spa e ginásio. Foi renovado há relativamente pouco tempo, por isso, tudo se encontrava em boas condições. O único ponto que poderia não ser tão bom, é o facto de estar a 6km do centro, mas isso ficou resolvido: existem autocarros a sair constantemente desde a porta do Hotel directamente até ao centro. E melhor que isso, os autocarros eram gratuitos a partir das 5h da tarde!
Mas o melhor mesmo, é convidar-vos a espreitar o hotel aqui.

DESLOCAÇÃO (dentro da cidade e/ou para outros países)
Como já disse, a rede de autocarros é boa e gratuita a partir das 17h. Mas têm também a opção de apanhar um Uber! Atenção que a Uber, tal como aqui em Portugal, não está propriamente em “clima de paz” com os taxistas de Dubrovnik, pelo que se deve evitar apanhar um uber perto das zonas mais movimentadas de taxis.
Sobre a deslocação para outros países, têm a opção de autocarros turísticos mas se tiverem oportunidade, aconselho a alugarem um carro. Se optarem por esta última, certifiquem-se apenas que a viatura inclui GPS e o chamado “Green Card” para poderem atravessar fronteiras. Certifiquem-se também que documentos precisam de levar (no caso de cidadãos portugueses, basta apresentar o CC).
ONDE ALUGÁMOS O CARRO?
Na verdade foi tudo um mero acaso, acabámos por comentar com o nosso motorista da Uber, no final do primeiro dia, que íamos procurar uma empresa para alugar um carro para o dia seguinte, e ele respondeu que nos arranjava um. Deixou-nos um cartão com o seu contacto, e depois de alguma pesquisa durante essa tarde, decidimos efectivamente avançar e alugar o carro ao Sr.Pero. Aviso já que sim, correu tudo lindamente com o carro, mas penso que conseguem preços mais em conta se alugarem previamente no site da Ryanair. Para futura comparação, alugámos um Seat Ibiza por 48h e ficou em 100€ (com seguro contra todos). Deixaram-nos o carro no Hotel e no último dia recolheram-no no mesmo sítio.
ONDE COMER?

DUBROVNIK, CROÁCIA
$ - Restaurante Barba - Os preços são mais em conta que o normal, a decoração e ambiente agradáveis e descontraídos. Fica numa das ruas à esquerda da Stradum. Localização: Boškovićeva ul. 5, 20000, Dubrovnik.
$ - Pizzeria Scala – restaurante modesto, de pizzas e comida mexicana. Pizzas muito boas, e comida mexicana também. Localização: Mata Vodopica 3, 20000 Dubrovnik.
$ - Bancas no meio da Stradum – Podem sempre experimentar os Cevapcici (típico da zona) que vendem nas bancas no meio da rua principal de Dubrovnik!
$$ / $$$ - Taj Mahal – Este restaurante engana pelo nome... não é indiano, mas sim “Bosnian Cuisine”. Apesar do preço, sinto que valeu muito a pena. Tudo na refeição me soube lindamente! O atendimento impecável e a decoração também. Se tiverem oportunidade (€), experimentem. Aconselho, aconselho, aconselho!
P.S – Se pedirem Cevapci, o tamanho supostamente mais pequeno é na realidade enorme! Localização: existem dois, nós fomos a um perto do Hotel Lero - Iva Vojnovića 14, Dubrovnik. O outro é na Old Town, mas não sei se é tão bom - Nikole Gučetića 2, Dubrovnik.
$$$ - Pantarul – Fomos lá parar por acaso, mas depois percebemos que é um restaurante que todos os croatas aconselham aos turistas! Cozinha de chef, mas na verdade nenhum de nós ficou convencido! Para mim, má relação qualidade / preço. No entanto, sendo este restaurante tão conhecido, não podia deixar de opinar sobre a minha experiência. Localização: Kralja Tomislava 1, 20000 Dubrovnik.
