Yes, I'm basic and I love brunch.

In my defense, ever since I was little I get really excited when I stay in a Hotel and I have continental breakfast included. "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day", they say... I say it's important to the point that it can even set my mood for the rest of the day.

So, with that being said, let's talk about two places that set me in a VERY good mood the day I visited them:

Brunch & Cake, Barcelona

Oh my lord, where do I even start? You know those places where you spend too much time looking at the menu trying to choose what you want because it all looks so good? This was one of those.
Located in Barceloneta neighborhood, this restaurant is specialized on this meal. The space is really cozy, with wood and marble decor, and a terrace for sunny days. And don't even get me started on the presentation of the plates: a beautiful happy mess 😏

Speaking again about the "taking too much time looking at menu" part, I'm also one of those people that after thoughtfully choosing, I end up regretting not getting the other thing I was looking at. And that other dish most of the times is chosen by the person I'm eating with, so I basically end up looking at that person's plate drooling and asking if I can taste a bit of it (annoying I know, but I can't live without knowing how it tastes). This was one of those times too! 😳 But this time, it's not that the thing I chose was bad, it was actually pretty damn good. But the thing my friend Mauro asked for was even better (for my taste at least). So, I'll give you this advice based on my preferences: if you are undecided, go for the waffles with ham and eggs!

Habanera, Madrid

This restaurant it's huge and sooo beautiful! And it's a perfect example of what we nowadays call "instagrammable". The theme is clearly tropical: the menu has banana leaves on its cover, and the stairs to the 1st floor are surrounded by a vertical garden. Basically the decor of this place it's on point! Also, the staff is really professional and attentive.

This place is really trendy, so you should book a table if you want to visit it.

About the brunch itself, as you can see in the image bellow, it comes in a big wooden board, and it's suppose to be for two people. It includes the following: an yogurt jar, granola and fruit, an egg cooked at 64ºC, small butter tub, cottage cheese, croissants, smoked salmon, rustic bread, Iberian ham, seasonal tomatoes, avocado dices, homemade jam, a jar with natural orange juice, coffee/cappuccino or tea. You can ask for more delicious stuff that's on the menu if you like.

We were three people, so we asked for one more croissant and egg, because it only came with two of each, and we split the rest of the things. I have to highlight the croissant part: they tasted like heaven, one of the best I've ever eaten, for sure. The only part I didn't like was when the bill came, it wasn't cheap at all... but you do have to pay more for this kind of quality, so sometimes you have to close your eyes and just swipe the card 🙈
